Welcome to The Lakes at Castle Rock...

As soon as you turn into the gates at Castle Rock, you are transformed into surroundings very uncommon for one residing in Tucson, or in the Southwest, for that matter. You will find, as you drive through the community, lush vegetation with 14 lakes, supporting a natural habitat throughout.

The Lakes at Castle Rock is located in the northeast part of Tucson. Bordered on the West by Catalina Highway and East by Bonanza. The Lakes at Castle Rock runs along Tanque Verde Road and extends South by the Tanque Verde Wash. It is approximately 1 1/3 miles from the East gate to the West gate.

This unique community affords amenities that provide for each and every resident, both young and old. There are 2 pools, 2 jacuzzis, a sauna, tennis courts, and a basketball court. It is not uncommon to see a resident fishing in one of the lakes and pulling out a large mouth bass. Not only is there a Recreational Center where residents can hold private parties, but just recently we have added a Fitness Center with all new state-of-the-art gym equipment for the most avid workout enthusiast.

The Lakes at Castle Rock is one of the best kept secrets in Tucson, affording a lifestyle that surpasses most other communities.

Dear Lakes at Castle Rock Residents:

The Board of Directors has been receiving feedback from several homeowners related to the use of the Association’s facilities such as the pool, tennis courts, etc. This feedback has been both in favor of closures, as well as against facilities closures. There have been questions related to the Board’s authority to restrict access to these common areas or facilities, and whether these temporary closures should result in a reduction in monthly assessments.

The Board voted by unanimous written consent to take this action. This was not a decision that was taken lightly, and was done in consideration for and the protection of the health and safety of the members and residents.

This action is permitted by the Association’s documents that allow for the establishment of rules and regulations pertaining to or restricting the use of the common area. The temporary closure of the facilities will not impact the assessment rate established by the Board through the 2020 Budget, as no offsets or credits against assessments are permitted, per the CC&Rs. Although use may be temporarily prohibited at this time, please remember that there are still maintenance expenses to be incurred now and in the future for these facilities.

These closures do not prohibit the use of the various walking paths, or use of the lawns and lake fronts. Please continue to utilize these assets of the Association while practicing proper social distancing and hand washing to help protect each other and the Community at large.

We understand that this action may cause frustration for some within the Community. It is our hope that you understand the action taken by the Board in an effort help promote the health and safety of all Lakes at Castle Rock members, residents, and our guests.

It is the goal of the Board to re-open the facilities as soon as possible. Stay safe, and we will keep you apprised of any changes.

Dear Lake at Castle Rock Residents,

Your Board of Directors is doing our best to provide for the safety of our residents during this unprecedented and difficult time. We are working on a multi-phased approach to reopen our facilities that aligns with those of state, local and CDC guidelines.

Phase 1 included the reopening of the tennis courts, basketball courts and playground facilities. We ask residents to practice personal responsibility for your safety. This includes following social distancing, cleaning before and after use, hand washing and following other CDC guidelines. Coronavirus/COVID-19 is still present and active throughout our state. In order to reopen facilities we must share responsibility with residents for your safety.

Personal Responsibility: YOU will need to make a decision about whether you want to use these shared facilities considering your own level of personal risk. You will be responsible for taking any precautions you deem necessary, just as you would when pursuing any other activity involving possible exposure to the Coronavirus/COVID-19.

Do NOT use the facilities if you think you may have recently been exposed to the virus or if you have a cold, a cough, fever, or any other signs of illness or if you have come into contact with anyone who has.

As facilities open, please notice that furniture has been removed for your safety. You are welcome to bring chairs with you, and please remove them when you leave.

If complaints of guideline abuse are received, the Board will determine if self-management of facility use is not possible. If that occurs, the Board may need to close the facilities again. Please do your part to ensure everyone’s safe enjoyment.

The Lakes at Castle Rock Board recognizes the presence of Coronavirus/COVID-19 and emphasizes we will not assume responsibility for your safety in reopening facilities. Use at your own risk.

As updates are received from governmental agencies, the Board may consider reopening the swimming pools and fitness center in subsequent phases. Please watch for updates on these next steps.

If your property is being rented, please be sure to share this information with your tenant(s)/property manager.

Thank you, and stay safe!

Your Board of Directors
